Our beloved, Bishop Christopher Aundra Carter was born to Elizabeth Moorman Carter and the late Howard J. Carter on January 19, 1960. Born and raised in Martinsville, Virginia, he attended Henry County Public Schools and was a 1978 graduate of Laurel Park High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 in Health and Physical Education from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina and later received his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Bishop Carter was also the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Divinity from Living Epistle Bible College of Greensboro, North Carolina in 2015.

As a child, he joined Mount Olivet Apostolic Church located in Martinsville, Virginia under the pastorate of the late Bishop Robert Kellam. He served as a Sunday School teacher and Associate Minister. On December 17, 1983, Chris was united in Holy matrimony to the love of his life, Frances L. Hairston and with this union, two sons were born.

Chris served as a police officer for the City of Martinsville for many years. He served as a health and physical education teacher at Albert Harris Middle School, John Motley Morehead High School and George Washington High School. Chris coached many sports during his career including football, basketball, and track. His favorite coaching experience was serving as Harry Johnson's Assistant Coach when George Washington High School won the state championship in 1996 and again as head coach in 1998. He was truly a coach enthusiast and received many accolades for his coaching excellence. In addition, he coached basketball at Reidsville High School in Reidsville, North Carolina and Westover Christian School in Danville, Virginia. Chris Carter served as Assistant Principal at Holmes Middle School, Principal at Dan River High School and later served as the first African American Principal at John M. Morehead High School in Eden, North Carolina and George Washington High School located in Danville, Virginia, a position he held until his retirement in 2013. Mr. Carter truly had a passion for youth. He genuinely showed love and concern for every child in which he touched. He also had a special regard for his faculty and staff.

His most treasured accomplishment was becoming an ordained minister while a member of Mount Olivet Apostolic Church. He was later ordained as an Elder through the United Churches of Jesus Apostolic, Inc. Being lead and directed by the Holy Spirit, Bishop Carter became founder/pastor of United in Christ Ministries in Eden, North Carolina in 2005. God has blessed the ministry to begin in a former club to its present facility. Shortly thereafter, he was consecrated Bishop by Apostle Lawrence G. Campbell of Bible Way Cathedral, Danville, Virginia. Following the leading of the Holy Spirit, Bishop Carter founded United in Christ Kingdom Fellowship in 2018 and served as Presiding Bishop.

His main objective as pastor was to make everyone feel wanted, accepted, and welcomed. He believed in unity and love as many of his members can attest. He had a knack of making everyone feel special. The ministry grew under his leadership.

Our beloved, Bishop Christopher Aundra Carter departed this life on Saturday, September 14, 2019 and transitioned from his earthly home and moved to his father’s house, not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God. The members of United truly love and cherish the memory of their Bishop.  He leaves a legacy at United, community, and everyone he touched. He will never be forgotten.
