Lady Fran Carter is extremely blessed to serve as the Overseer and co-founder of United in Christ Ministries.

Lady Fran was born to Thomas and the late Helen Hairston. She received her education at Tunstall High School in Dry Fork, Virginia. She later received an Associate Degree in Education at Danville Community College. She continued her studies at Averett University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Secondary Education (Grades 8-12). She later received a Master of Science Degree from Longwood University majoring in Secondary School Counseling. She has received 18 additional graduate credits from various universities such as James Madison University, Radford University, Virginia State University, and the University of California Hayward.

Sis. Fran has served in the education field for over 30 years. She has taught business at National Business College, Patrick County High School, George Washington High School, and retired in 2015 after 16 years of service as an assistant professor of Administrative Support Technology at Danville Community College.

Frances Hairston Carter was married to the late Bishop Christopher A. Carter for almost 37 years and they are the proud parents of two sons; Devan and Darius.

Lady Fran’s roots in the church go deep. She has loved the Lord and the church since childhood. She was reared at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Cascade, Virginia where Pastor Otis Chestnut and the late Rev. Dr. John W. Tinsley served as her pastors. As a child, she loved singing and would sing in the church choir as a child and perform solo concerts at five years old with her mother serving as her accompanist. Music continues to be her calling as she frequently renders solos at her church and area churches and sings in the church choir. She also serves as the leader of the United Women’s Ministry and regularly teaches bible study. She has spoken on several occasions at various women’s conferences at different churches.

She has often been called on to counsel and provide support for those in need of encouragement. Lady Fran sees herself as a servant to God and others. She has embraced many sons and daughters in the ministry with God’s guidance.

Lady Carter feels that today’s women must realize the love that God has for them and they must have for themselves. We must realize our value in God’s eyes and not rely on the opinions and values others attach to us.

Her favorite scriptures are:

In all Thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6

I can do All Things through Christ who strengthens me! Philippians 4:13

Trust in the Lord with All Thine Heart and Lean Not to Thy Own Understanding! Proverbs 3:5
